Winter Preparation is in Full Force!

The winter preparation is in full force here at Malco. As we have just reached December, the frigid temperatures are here, and we are awaiting the winter precipitation. To be ready for a winter event, there is a lot of preparation that must be completed, so that we are ready for whatever mother nature throws our way. Our first order of business typically involves constructing our salt storage bins. Since we have various locations that we service, we keep a salt storage bin on both the east and west shore. We use large concrete wall barriers to build our storage areas. Once we had the bins built, it was time to start moving our stockpile from our shop, to the two designated locations. We hauled multiple loads with our Kenworth, and F-550 dump trucks. After we stockpiled our storage bins, it was time to move our skids of bagged ice melt. We use the bagged ice melt on public, and private sidewalks at the locations we service. Once the appropriate number of skids were dispersed, we could then move our equipment and snow push boxes to our two main headquarters. Before any of equipment or snow boxes were moved, we performed our routine maintenance on each item to ensure it would hold up in any storm that may come our way. Now we get to cross our fingers and hope that the snow begins falling!
